Basic PLC Technician

Basic PLC Technician
Training Programme

The Industrial PLC Technician programme has been designed for Industry to provide basic technical skills and knowledge necessary to work with PLC’s found typically in an Industrial and Manufacturing environment. These skills are needed to operate various PLC’s within Industry

Once the learner has completed the Programme, they will be able to offer their services and support to Industry on existing PLC Programmes, and the learner will be equipped with an overview of the necessity and understanding of basic PLC language and programming techniques.

LEARNING WITH LABORATORY SIMULATIONS

One of the main features of the programs is the complete integration of laboratory experiments, using PLC simulation within the presentation of theory. The PLC simulation software converts the student’s computer into a virtual PLC. The student is able to design, run, test and debug ladder logic programs and simulate the operation of real-world PLC controlled systems. PLC Technician incorporates PLCLogix 500, simulation software that emulates the Rockwell (Allen-Bradley) RSLogix 500 series PLC software. PLC Technician II incorporates PLCLogix 5000, simulation software that emulates the Rockwell RSLogix 5000 series PLC control software.

The PLCLogix Family

PLCLogix 500 and PLCLogix 5000 provide ten interactive 3D environments or “3DWorlds” which emulate a wide range of manufacturing and service applications. The integration of the ladder logic programs with the 3DWorlds provides a unique opportunity for programming in real-time and observing the operation of complex control devices and systems.

PLCLogix 5000 simulator features ten “real world” 3D PLC application environments (PLCLogix 500 features 11 3D Worlds) that graphically simulate process control operations for the following applications: Batch Mixing, Bottling Line, Dual-Compressor, Elevator, Moving Car Wash, Silo, Single-Compressor, Stationary Car Wash, Traffic Lights, Valve and Warehouse Door.

In addition to the 3DWorlds, the simulator also has basic I/O chassis containing switches, sliders, displays and output indicators.

Also included are approximately 250 pre-built lab projects; including 50 lab projects presented within the ten 3D PLC application environments.
